The app will also record short video clips synced to the radar reading if you want to overlay mechanics with velocity, though I'll admit we've used that feature maybe a dozen times total. It's neat, it's just not something a parent standing behind a screen has the bandwidth to manage every session.
Exporting the season log to send to Eli's travel coach is straightforward, a CSV export from the app that I've dropped into a spreadsheet more than once. Who Should Skip It
If your kid plays rec ball for fun, or you're just curious what his fastball looks like once or twice a summer, this is overkill. A cheaper radar gun in the $80 to $150 range will satisfy that curiosity without the app, the Bluetooth, or the price tag, and honestly the accuracy gap between those cheaper units and the Smart Coach only matters once you're using the numbers for real decisions. Buy this when the data changes something. Skip it when it would just sit in a drawer between tournaments.
